Lake Ndutu Airstrip is located in the Sinoni area of Tanzania. This airstrip serves travelers visiting Lake Ndutu and the surrounding wildlife areas. The runway at Lake Ndutu Airstrip is about 1.3 kilometers long, which is suitable for small aircraft used for domestic safari flights. These aircraft operate from different parts of Tanzania and land here to support tourism in the region.
Lake Ndutu Airstrip is positioned close to Lake Ndutu, which lies in the south eastern part of Serengeti National Park. It is also within a short distance of the eastern side of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Because of this location, the airstrip is widely used by visitors combining Serengeti and Ngorongoro on one safari. Flights to this airstrip are usually arranged based on where visitors are staying, as there are many lodges and camps spread across the Ndutu area.

Lake Ndutu
Lake Ndutu is located on the south eastern side of Serengeti National Park, close to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The lake sits in open plains and offers clear views across the landscape. Because it is located near Mount Kilimanjaro plains, the area supports strong wildlife activity. Lake Ndutu has been a popular tourism area since the 1960s and has attracted filmmakers, wildlife researchers, and documentary teams. Researchers such as Jane Goodall and Hugo van Lawick used Ndutu as a base for much of their work.
The lake has enough water and vegetation to attract many animals and predators. Many bird species are also found here. Lake Ndutu lies in a bowl shaped depression that forms a complete ecosystem. This allows animals to remain in the area for long periods, making it a reliable place for game viewing.
Lake Ndutu is shallow and alkaline. It lies on the south eastern border of Serengeti National Park and shares the same basin with Lake Masek, which is located in the eastern part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Archaeological research carried out in 1973 on the shores of Lake Ndutu led to the discovery of mineral remains believed to be over 500,000 years old.
