Detailed 4-Day Serengeti & Ngorongoro Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park
You will be picked up from your hotel or the airport in Arusha with a packed picnic lunch. You then drive to Lake Manyara National Park, which takes about two and a half hours.
On arrival, you will go for a full day game drive inside the park. Lake Manyara is known for its forest areas and open spaces. You may see elephants, impalas, buffaloes, baboons, giraffes, and blue monkeys. Tree climbing lions can also be seen, though sightings depend on luck.
For bird lovers, Lake Manyara attracts flamingoes during certain seasons due to algae in the lake. In the evening, you will drive to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Transfer to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you leave Lake Manyara and drive toward Serengeti National Park. Along the way, there are chances to see wildlife and, at certain times of the year, parts of the Great Wildebeest Migration.
You will enjoy a game drive in the central Serengeti, also known as the Seronera area. Rivers in this region attract wildlife throughout the year, making it one of the best areas for game viewing.
You arrive at your lodge or camp in time for lunch. After a short rest, you head out for an afternoon game drive to explore more of the Serengeti. Dinner and overnight at your lodge or camp.
Day 3: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
You start the day with an early breakfast, then head out for a morning game drive in Serengeti National Park. Early hours offer good chances to see predators returning from a hunt or resting after feeding.
Later, you drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with a packed lunch. On arrival, you enjoy a game drive within the conservation area before heading to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Game Drive in the Crater to Arusha
After an early breakfast, you drive to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater and descend to the crater floor for a game drive. This area is home to elephants, lions, buffaloes, hyenas, cheetahs, zebras, and warthogs.
You will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the crater before driving out and returning to Arusha.
