Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Uganda
Upon arrival at Entebbe international airport, you will find your tour guide waiting for you. He will drive you to your hotel in Entebbe/Kampala where you will spend the night. Rest enough for tomorrow you officially start your wildlife adventure. Welcome to the Pearl of Africa.
Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After your breakfast, your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to Kibale National park, the chimpanzee capital of the world. Over 13 different species of primates inhabit the ever green Kibale forest. These include the famous chimpanzees (closest relative to human beings), black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons, red tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, Lhotse’s monkeys and many different bird species. Check into your lodge, grab dinner and an overnight sleep.
Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest and Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Post your breakfast, pack some drinking water and snacks as you wait for your tour guide to come drive you to Kanyanchu where you will get a briefing about Chimpanzee trekking from the park ranger guides. Thereafter, you will be led by a ranger guide to track down the habituated troops of chimpanzees in Kibale Forest and a rewarding sight of other primates and different species of birds. Once you find the chimpanzees, that is like in 2-5 hours, you will be given an hour to watch them, take pictures as the guide answers your questions and explains their behaviors.
Return to your lodge for lunch and after some hours of rest and recovery, you will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth national park. Dinner and an overnight at your lodge.
Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Rise up before the sun, have a light breakfast and drive out to the Kasenyi plains in Queen Elizabeth national park for a rewarding game drive in the most visited park in Uganda. It is also home to the big 4, the lion, leopard, buffalo and elephant. Other animals to look out for are; hippos, antelopes, hyenas, warthogs, banded mongoose, waterbuck, kobs, bush bucks and different bird species as the park prides in housing over 600 different species.
After the game drive, you will drive further Southwest towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will have lunch along the way. Enjoy the panoramic views of rolling hills of Kigezi area. On arrival at your lodge, you will freshen up, have your dinner and your much needed rest as you have an early morning tomorrow.
Day 5: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Community Visit
Get ready for a once in a life time moment, a face to face encounter with the endangered Mountain Gorillas of Bwindi impenetrable forest. After breakfast you will head to the parks head offices for a briefing before you enter into the forest in search of these great apes. Uganda has more than half of the whole population of mountain gorillas living in the wild in the whole world. Finding a family of gorillas might take you anywhere from 2-6 hours depending on their movements, but the moment you track them out, all those hours will be worth it. Spend an hour in their presence before you exit the forest.
You will have lunch and later go for a cultural visit to one of the Batwa communities in the park. Retire back to your lodge and call it a day well spent.
Day 6: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda
Early morning rise, have breakfast and check out of your rooms. Your driver will pick you up and drive you further Southwest and into Rwanda, the land of rolling hills. You will cross the Uganda-Rwanda border. The journey takes about 6 hours, you will have lunch en-route then continue to your lodge and check in for an overnight.
Day 7: Golden Monkey Tracking
Today you will track down the Golden monkey, also known as the Old-world monkey. You will be driven to the headquarters of the park where you will have a briefing session about the trek after which you will procced to the forest. The monkeys can easily be seen swinging from one bamboo tree to another. You will have an hour to watch them as the ranger guide gives you more information about their behaviors.
After the trek, you can drive to the nearby villages, learn about their traditions and culture and there day to day living near a national park. Overnight at your lodge.
Day 8: Flight to Tanzania
Depending on the time of your flight. Your driver will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the airport for your flight to Tanzania. On arrival, you will be welcomed by your Tanzanian safari guide who will drive you to your hotel in Arusha. Take time to rest and recover. More thrilling adventure awaits you in the coming days.
Day 9: Transfer to Serengeti National park
After your breakfast, the safari guide will drive you to Serengeti national park. Arriving in the afternoon, you will have lunch after check in, you will embark on afternoon game drive in the Serengeti plains. Dinner and an overnight back at the lodge.
Day 10: Game Drives in Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Area
A full day game drive experience in one of the 2 popular tourist destinations in Tanzania. Chances of spotting the Big 5 on this day as both inhabit the Serengeti plains and Ngorongoro conservation area. Both areas teem with wildlife diversity providing great and thrilling game viewing experiences. A chance of catching the great migration in action in Serengeti if you visit the park during the migration period.
On this day, expect to see the big cats (lion, cheetah and leopards), elephants, hippos, wildebeests, jackals, hyenas, giraffes, zebras, buffalos, black rhino with some luck, elands, impalas, serval, baboons and different birds. Optional activities you can take part in; hot air ballooning and Masai community visits.
Day 11: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive
Post breakfast you will drive to the crater rim and descend down to the floor of the unbroken caldera for a game viewing experience of your life. 30,000 animals and hundreds of birds inhabit the different habitats at the floor of Ngorongoro crater. With its panoramic landscapes and breathtaking scenic views, the crater is a breath of fresh air.
At the end of the day, return to your lodge for a laid-back evening.
Day 12: End of safari
We wind up your last day of the safari with one more game drive as you exit the park on your way to back to Arusha for a drop at the airport to catch your flight back home.
