Day 1: Arusha, Tanzania to Serengeti National Park

Your 6 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking & Serengeti Wildlife Safari begins in Tanzania. Your driver guide will pick you up from Arusha and drive you to Serengeti National Park. You will arrive in time for lunch and then head out for an afternoon game drive.

Serengeti National Park is home to many animals and birds found across its wide plains. You will see open grasslands, savannah areas, gentle hills, and river forests as you explore the park. After the game drive, return to your tented camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drive in Serengeti National Park

After an early breakfast, head out for a morning game drive. This is a good time to see animals as they begin their day. As the sun rises, the plains come to life with wildlife activity.

You may see members of the Big Five, including lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes, and the rare black rhino. Other animals include giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, spotted hyenas, cheetahs, bat-eared foxes, hippos, crocodiles, servals, elands, and topis. Birdlife includes ostriches, secretary birds, vultures, eagles, flamingos, and many others.

You will stop for a picnic lunch and continue with game viewing in the afternoon. In the evening, return to your tented camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: To Arusha for a Flight to Rwanda

Wake up early, pack your bags, and enjoy breakfast. Drive out of Serengeti National Park with a final game drive as you exit. You will then be transferred to Arusha Airport for your flight to Kigali, Rwanda.

On arrival in Kigali, our company representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in the city.

Day 4: Kigali City Tour & Drive to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, your driver will pick you up from the hotel for a Kigali city tour. Kigali is known for its clean streets and well-planned layout. During the tour, you will visit the former presidential palace, the main city market, and the Genocide Memorial Centre to learn about Rwanda’s history.

After lunch, drive northeast to Volcanoes National Park. The drive takes about three hours. On arrival, check in at your safari lodge and relax. Later, visit the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo to learn how they were formed. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking. Rangers will explain the rules and what to expect during the trek. The trek may take between two and four hours or longer, depending on where the gorillas are located.

Once you find a gorilla family, you will spend one hour observing them. Your guide will explain their behavior and daily activities. This experience is very different from game drives in savannah parks.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and some rest. Later, visit the Iby’iwacu Cultural Village to learn about local traditions. Watch cultural dances, songs, and daily village activities. Return to the lodge in the evening to relax and reflect on the day.
