Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha Tanzania to Serengeti National park
Your 6 days safari will start in Tanzania. Your tour driver guide will pick you from Arusha and drive you to Serengeti National Park. You will arrive in time for lunch after which you will head out for an afternoon game drive in the park. The park is blessed with a vast animal and bird life spread throughout its endless plains. Scenic views of different landscapes from open grasslands, Savannahs, rolling hills and riverine forests. Dinner and lunch back at your safari tented camp.
Day 2: Full day game drive in Serengeti National park
Wake up to an action-packed day. After an early breakfast, you will go on an early game drive to rise with the park and its animal residents. At sunrise watch nature unfold in front of you as the sun lights up the Serengeti plains. Home to an abundance of wildlife, you have chances of seeing the Big 5, that is the lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and the rare black rhino. Look out for other animals like the giraffe, zebra, wildebeests, spotted hyenas, cheetah, bat eared fox, hippos, crocodiles, serval, eland, topi, different bird species like the ostrich, secretary bird, different vulture species, eagles, flamingos and more. You will have a break to enjoy a picnic lunch, head out for more game viewing in the evening and later retire back to your safari tented camp for an overnight stay and dinner.
Day 3: To Arusha for a flight to Rwanda
An early morning rise, pack your bags, enjoy your breakfast and drive out of Serengeti National park with one last game drive as you exit the park for last minute wild game spotting. You will be dropped at Arusha airport to catch your flight to Kigali in Rwanda where our company representative will be waiting for you and drive you to your hotel in the beautiful city of rolling hills, Kigali.
Day 4: Kigali City Tour and drive to Volcanoes National Park
The driver will pick you from your hotel in the morning after your breakfast and take you on a city tour before you drive off to the Volcanoes. Kigali is one of the most organized and cleanest cities in Africa, with quite beautiful sceneries of rolling hills. While on the city tour, your will visit the former presidential palace, the main city market and the Genocide memorial center to get to know about the ins and outs of the Rwanda genocide.
After your city tour and a delicious lunch, you will drive Northeast wards to the Volcanoes National Park, about a 3 hours drive. Check in at your safari lodge, freshen up and after a moment of relaxation, your driver will take you to see the famous twin lakes; Lake Burera and Lake Ruhondo. Get to know how they were formed and why they are called twins. Retire back to your lodge for dinner and a restful night.
Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Early morning breakfast and a drive to the park’s headquarters for a briefing about todays main activity, gorilla trekking. You will be briefed about the do’s and don’ts and what to expect on your trek. The trek will take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours or more. Depending on how far the Mountain Gorillas are from the starting point of your trek. Once you find these gentle giants, you will have an hour to fully observe them. Your guide tells you mote about their behaviors and what they will be doing in that moment. An exciting wildlife experience so different from the safari game viewing experience.
You will then trek back towards the headquarters where your driver will be waiting. You will drive you back to your lodge for lunch. Some rest before going to visit the Iby’iwacu cultural village. Get to immerse yourself in the culture of the Rwandese people. Watch them sign and dance to traditional folk songs. Visit the local beer makers and more. Retreat back to your lodge at the end of the day relax. Reminisce about the sights and sounds of your day.
Day 6: Drive to Kigali – End of Safari
After your breakfast, your driver will drive you back to Kigali. Drop you off at the airport for your flight back home.
