Arusha Airport is an important airport for domestic travel in northern Tanzania. The Arusha domestic airport has a total runway length of about 1,860 meters and a width of 30 meters. The runway orientation is 09 and 27. This runway size allows the airport to handle small and medium domestic aircraft that operate within Tanzania.
Arusha Airport has five taxiways named Taxiway A, B, C, D, and P. Taxiway P is the parallel taxiway and has a length of about 500 meters and a width of 7.5 meters. It connects the remote apron to runway 09 and Taxiway A. These taxiways help aircraft move safely between the runway and parking areas.

The airport has two main apron areas. The remote apron has a total area of about 8,925 square meters. This apron is used for smaller aircraft with a weight of less than 12 tonnes. The main apron area covers about 15,000 square meters and can park aircraft such as the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400. These facilities allow Arusha Airport to handle steady domestic traffic.
Arusha is known as the gateway to the northern tourism circuit of Tanzania. The city is served by two airports, Kilimanjaro International Airport and Arusha Airport, also known as Arusha Municipal or Domestic Airport. Arusha Airport is mainly used by travelers flying on small aircraft to different parts of Tanzania and from other regions back to Arusha. The airport operates only domestic flights.
Arusha Airport is located on the western side of Arusha City, about 7 kilometers from the city center. It sits at an elevation of around 4,565 feet above sea level. The average temperature in the area is about 23 degrees Celsius, which makes travel comfortable for most of the year.
Arusha is located in the north eastern part of Tanzania. The city lies on the eastern foothills of Mount Meru and near the Great East African Rift Valley. Arusha has a good climate with regular rainfall because of its location near forested areas.
Arusha is one of the safari capitals of Tanzania. From the city, travelers can easily reach Serengeti National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Kilimanjaro Mountain, Arusha National Park, and Tarangire National Park.
The city is also home to major international offices, including the headquarters of the East African Community. Arusha previously hosted the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda from 1994 to 2005. This makes Arusha an important city for tourism, travel, and international relations in Tanzania.
