Detailed Kilimanjaro Climbing & Tanzania Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, your driver will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. Check in, freshen up, and rest. The next day you will begin your climb to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro using the Machame Route.
Day 2 to 7: Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro
Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is a major achievement. Several routes can be used to reach the summit, including Machame, Lemosho, Shira, Northern Circuit, Umbwe, Marangu, and Rongai. During this tour, you will follow one selected route and spend nights in mountain camps.
As you climb, you will pass through different vegetation zones, including forest areas, open highlands, and dry alpine sections. On reaching Uhuru Peak, take time to enjoy the moment and watch the sunrise from the highest point in Africa.
After descending to the base of the mountain, your driver will transfer you to Arusha for dinner and an overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 8: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast in Arusha, drive to Lake Manyara National Park to begin your wildlife safari. Arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive.
Look out for tree climbing lions, elephants, baboons, hippos, giraffes, buffaloes, and flamingoes. Dinner and overnight will be at your safari lodge.
Day 9: Transfer to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, drive to Serengeti National Park, passing through Karatu farmlands and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Arrive in the afternoon, have lunch, and enjoy an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge.
Day 10: Game Drives in Serengeti National Park
Spend the full day on game drives in Serengeti National Park. Start early in the morning to look for predators and other animals that are active at this time of day.
Break for lunch and continue with an afternoon game drive to explore more areas of the park. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge.
Day 11: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast, drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with a packed lunch. Descend about 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive on the crater floor.
The crater is home to many animals, including lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes, rhinos, hippos, gazelles, antelopes, wildebeests, and many birds. After the game drive, ascend from the crater and enjoy a picnic lunch at the rim. Continue exploring the area before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 12: Drop Off at the Airport
After breakfast, drive to Arusha and transfer to the airport for your flight. This marks the end of your 12 Days Mount Kilimanjaro Hiking & Tanzania Wildlife Safari Tour.
