Detailed Gorilla Trekking & Wildebeest Migration Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Uganda/Kigali and Pick Up
On arrival at Entebbe International Airport or Kigali International Airport, your guide will meet you and drive you to your hotel in Entebbe town/Kigali city. You will spend the night here as you prepare for the safari. Welcome to Uganda/Rwanda.
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After an early breakfast, begin your journey to southwestern Uganda. Once you leave the city, the drive becomes quiet and calm. The journey is long but comfortable.
You will make a few stops along the way to rest, have lunch, and visit the Equator line. Later in the evening, arrive at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, check in at your safari lodge, enjoy dinner, and rest.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for a short briefing about gorilla trekking. You will be placed in a group of up to eight people and then enter the forest to track mountain gorillas.
Bwindi is home to about half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. The trek may take between two and six hours, depending on where the gorillas are. Once found, you will spend one hour observing them.
After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch. You may relax at the lodge or visit the Batwa community for a cultural experience.
Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda
After breakfast, check out and drive to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. Enjoy the countryside views along the way, including after crossing the border. On arrival, check in at your lodge near the park and relax.
Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After an early breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking rules. Enter the forest to track a different gorilla family. Once you find them, you will spend one hour observing their behavior and taking photos.
After the trek, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Fly to Arusha in Tanzania
After breakfast, drive to Kigali Airport for your flight to Arusha, Tanzania. On arrival at Arusha Airport, your safari guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. You will spend the night in Arusha.
Day 7 to 8: Serengeti National Park
Spend the next two days exploring Serengeti National Park, known for the Great Wildebeest Migration. You will enjoy game drives in different areas of the park.
Animals commonly seen include lions, leopards, elephants, black rhinos, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, impalas, elands, jackals, and hyenas. Many bird species are also found in the park.
Optional activities include visits to Maasai communities and hot air balloon safaris.
Day 9: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast, drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend about 2,000 feet into Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive on the crater floor.
During the game drive, you may see lions, leopards, black rhinos, elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, elands, wildebeests, topis, gazelles, and many bird species. After a picnic lunch, ascend from the crater and explore areas around the crater rim. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge.
Day 10: Transfer to Arusha and Flight Back Home
After breakfast, enjoy views of the crater before driving back to Arusha. You will be dropped off at the airport for your flight home or onward journey. This marks the end of your 10 Days Gorilla Trekking & Wildebeest Migration Special.
