Seronera Valley in Central Serengeti Tanzania

The Seronera Valley

Seronera Valley in Central Serengeti Tanzania is one of the most important areas to visit on an African safari. A trip to Serengeti National Park is not complete without spending time in the Seronera Valley. This area is well known for large groups of animals feeding on rich grasses made possible by the Seronera River. The river supports wildlife throughout the year and keeps the valley active in all seasons.

The Seronera Valley covers a large part of the Central Serengeti. It is home to many animal species because water is always available. Herbivores stay in the area all year due to the constant supply of grass. On most days, visitors can see giraffes, gazelles, elephants, zebras, and wildebeests moving across the valley. Because prey animals are present in large numbers, predators are also common. Lions, cheetahs, and hyenas are often seen hunting or resting nearby. The Seronera Valley is also one of the best places in Serengeti National Park to see leopards, which are usually hard to spot.

The Seronera River

Many of the permanent lodges in Serengeti National Park are found in the Seronera Valley. These lodges were built here because wildlife viewing is reliable throughout the year. This makes the area suitable for travelers who want comfort while staying close to wildlife. However, the number of lodges also means that the area can be busier than other parts of the park, especially during peak seasons.

Seronera Valley in Central Serengeti Tanzania is easy to reach. It is located less than 15 miles south of the Retina Hippo Pool. Visitors can fly from Arusha to the Seronera Airstrip or travel by road through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Naabi Hell’s Gate in the Eastern Serengeti.
